Automatic Smalltext maximum length validation
----------------------------------------------

                 Key: JAHIA-3685
                 URL: http://www.jahia.net/jira/browse/JAHIA-3685
Project: Jahia Web Content Management Server (WCMS)
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Jahia Core Framework
    Affects Versions: WCM 6.0 (Andromeda)
            Reporter: Benjamin Papez
            Assignee: Xavier Lawrence
             Fix For: WCM 6.0 (Andromeda)

When Smalltext fields exceed the maximum length of the database column we are
running into an exception, so that the editor does not have to chance to change
his input. I think we should make an automatic validation to not allow too long
input in these fields. Consider that some customers have already enlarged the
DB column, so the maximum length should be configured or automatically detected
from the DB column specification.

Furthermore there will be in future the possibility to externalize category or
multiple list selections, when they exceed the size, so for these two types the
validation should be bypassed.
