Stephane Croisier commented on DOC-365:
---------------------------------------
I would also add a new role in the Admin Center (new ECM/DMS tab in the Site
Permissions) in order to restrict the number of users who can use or manage smb
(or others) resources throughout Jahia and map this to some web pages.
> Mounted External Drives: who can take such a decision? and where are they
> mounted?

> Currently the mounted remoted hard drives could be:
> 1) mounted by anyone (= any editor)
> 2) are mapped in the user's directory
> I am not sure that:
> a) any kind of users could map any kind of remote resources. There are
> security concerns in order to not publically share some private data, some
> integrity concern (moved resources on the shared drive and how it reflects on
> the page and the file field which is using it, etc...). So this is a complex
> decision and IMHO only some Root/webbmasters hould be abloe to add new "mount
> points".
> b) There should be a deidcated "mount" points whihc should not be located
> under each user's directory. Each user would then like to mount the same kind
> of shared network drives. This will lead to have different pathes in the used
> field fields pointing to the same resources. What then if a user is deleted?
> etc...
> So a centralized "external mounts" point under the root level looks like
> better.
