In Solaris 8, Counter ref was not replaced by real value if I checked track counter 
checkbox

I've been trying to reproduce this. Here's what I did:

Thread Group: 10 threads
  HttpRequest: GET http://localhost/?num=${test}
    Counter: reference name "test"
    Response Assertion: NOT CONTAINS "test"
  Aggregate report

No matter how long I run it (my patience is short, but I've waited for half a
million requests to go through), no matter whether I track the counter
independently for each user or not, I don't see the problem. I've verified by
grepping my Apache access.log for "test".

Mark: can you provide a reproducible test case?

Is this really Solaris-specific, as the summary suggests? I find this just too
surprising.

Raising priority and severity -- it's a really awful bug if it is still there!
