Fine by me, though I've not had problems with the BAT files. I suspect the shell scripts are more likely to hit problems.
We should allow users to pass in additional options using a suitable env. variable, but otherwise it could all be stripped out. Users can then write their own wrapper script to set the variables and invoke the supplied scripts if they want. Probably useful to keep the information on the variables in a separate text file. S.
