Ok, so how do I escape these characters from the UI? I tried:

member\[33\]

which allowed the regex to work properly, but the parameter was submitted on the
next page as:

member%5C%5B0%5C%5D

which the app will see as literally as member\[33\]. The only way I was able to
get this to work was to escape the brackets only when it is put into regex which
has to happen in the URLRewritingModifier class.
