Mike,

I tried downloading different versions of JMeter and also playing with
the properties file.

1.6.1 properties file lists ".;ApacheJMeter.jar"  -- which seems to be
correct.  I took the ".;"
off and the behavior was still the same as before.  The GUI on the left
works fine ie: the tree, adding test cases, menues, etc.  There is no
graphical content on the right
displayed no matter what I click on though.  I cannot edit the
properties of the samples I add on the left.
I am on Mandrake 8.0.  Using jdk1.3.0.

JMeter 1.5.1 runs fine and so far, I have not seen similar behavior with
that version.
