Wait: if JMeter is sending a new sessionId on each request, it must have found it somewhere, right? Where is it finding it in, if not in the response?
Can you send the full text of a response and the following request?

That looks correct: since it's the first request, session aaaa does not exist in the server, so it will create a new one. The issue is what happens on the next request: does JMeter send bbbb as a session id?
