I made a change to the way characters are displayed in the View Tree Listener, but it does not sound like the cause. [There were probably other UTF changes, but I don't recall them offhand.]
It would be a great help if you could create a Bugzilla entry for this problem, and attach the following: - a simple jmx file showing the problem (please use a publicly accessible web-site) - jmeter.log file for the test run - details of JMeter and Java versions.
