Looks like there may be a problem with the Java installation; the error
message is certainly not generated by JMeter.

Do other java applications work OK?

Might be worth re-installing Java, or trying a different version.

What does the jmeter.log contain?
That might give a clue as to how far JMeter gets before the error.
