I'm not sure I understand the question, but I think the answer is:
In any of the GUI control windows, you can use the function value by
writing ${myregex} into the input box. For instance, if you had a
request parameter in the HTTP Request sampler, whose value had to be
whatever your regex matches, you'd enter "${myregex}" into the table
(assuming some previous sampler created the variable using the
function).
