Ok, thanks. I see "HTTP Sampler" as an item I can add to my Workbench,
but not as an item I can add to my Test Plan. Should I add it to my
Workbench, set it to Post, etc and then drag-and-drop it into the Test Plan?
What I want to do is add a SOAP payload to the request.
Thanks.

You're right - the documentation is wrong.
The method can currently only be specified on the HTTP Sampler itself.

element to my Jmeter Test Plan. But I didn't see a way to specify
whether the request should use Get or Post. The JMeter online docs
indicate there should be a field named "Method" on the "HTTP Request
Defaults" form, but I don't see it. Is this form missing something? If
not, how should I specify that it use a Post request?
Thanks.
