The sampler name normally appears in the label attribute - works for me with the HTTP and JavaTest samplers.
Though with JavaTest, one has to provide the Label (I suppose it could default to the Name, but it doesn't). What version of JMeter are you running? JVM? OS? What sampler are you using? S.
