I gave a JMeter demo to the Sacramento Java users group last month.
I tried to use an AppFuse application, but when I failed to get that
running, I just used one of the sample applications which come with the
Apache webserver. I didn't use a database, but this will show the webapp
testing features just fine...

You can also use the Java Sampler / Java Test for running local tests.

This can be used to demonstrate Assertions, Listeners, Controllers etc.
