The jmeter.log file only contains messages about the threads starting,
and stopping, and the test completing. I added a Save Response
Post-Processor- but the resulting file was zero-length. I appreciate the
suggestion- do you have any others?

Any errors in jmeter.log?

Try adding a Save Response Post-Processor to see what is being returned.
