Well, i have set up Java and JMeter on a Windows machine, i am not behind a
firwall, and I can access the host using browser and also ping the host.
Is there any setting i'm missing?

The host name could not be resolved. Check that it is spelt correctly,
and that you can access it from the JMeter host, e.g. using a browser.
