FYI

Regarding javax.vecmath support ...

I still think it would be a good idea for Sun to include this in the core
java classes. Therefore, I have posted a message to one of the java forums
at java.sun.com. In addition, I sent the email below.

Probably nothing will come of it ... but it cannot hurt to ask.

Doug,

I saw your posting regarding the planned community release process for
Java 3D and am taking the liberty to write to you.

The javax.vecmath package is included as part of the Java3D API. It
provides useful tuple/matrix operations. It has been a standard/stable
API/implementation for many years. It is completely independent of the 3D
graphics card implementations.

It seems to me that it would be useful to include the javax.vecmath
package as part of the core java class library. That way, developers could
use these classes without requiring that the Java3D stuff be installed.

It seems to me this could be done independently of the release process for
the broader Java3D class libraries.

Q: Has anyone given any thought to this?

Q: What is the proper way for me to *lobby* for this so that it is given
some consideration in future J2SE releases.

Q: Any chance it could happen?

Thank you for your time and consideration this matter,

Michael
