Seriously, I think the Jmol applet showing a simplistic crystal viewer is of 
much interest, e.g. as used as described earlier in this thread...

And most importantly is then, the reading of the symmerty groups... far more 
important than ortap atoms. 

A true CIF viewer would allow to study the information in a CIF file, and 
these are normally experimental (X-ray stuff) and computational results 
(refinement etc)... much to much to address for Jmol. At least for the 
current development team.
