I noticed it on Mac OS X.

From the fact that the black text comes back in italics, just like regular output (e.g. from the show model script) I assume that the program reports the error as 'output' and as an 'error' (the latter in non-italic red font).

The initial error I get seems to come from interpreting the line 'Script completed' which is the initial line in the script window. Since it interprets the whole line as a commmand, it balks at thinking that it needs to process 'cript completed$ show model'.

Miguel,

I noticed that when I start Jmol and type 'show model' in the script
window after the 'Script Completed $' prompt, I get an exception thrown
at me. After that the '$' is at the beginning of the line and I don't
get the exception anymore.
Just thought I'd let you know.

This is related to the swing class that is being used for the script window.

Interestingly, it doesn't happen on all platforms.

Happens on Linux... Sun 1.4 and 1.5...

I suspect that it could be addressed by simply writing some text at the
beginning of the window ... so that the cursor is not positioned at the
beginning.

We could output the Jmol version number and the Java version number at the
beginning.

You could experiment with this if you wanted to.

Yes, please, I had major problems with this too...

BTW, is there a special reason why I get all errors in black and red, thus
twice? Is this related to the above problem?
