Hi all,

Some time I said that I planned to work on the CDK support in Jmol [1], and I
started that today. But I soon realized that it actually depends on quite
some CDK classes, mostly because of the plugin support.

I decided to comment out CDK support all together in CVS, because:
- bioclipse.net removes the needs for Jmol application plugins
- without depending on the CDK, Daniel can fix the cross-dependencies and
might be able to get it into Debian, giving Jmol a huge (potential) user
base (and making it a lot easier for me to make the free and open source
live Chemo-/Bioinformatics CDK to demo on conferences)

If you have not checked out Bioclipse yet, it's the 2006 chemoinformatics
killer open source program. It reuses and integrates many open source
programs, including Jmol, but also the CDK, OpenBabel, BioJava, and likely
integrate ghemical/tinker and other open source QM program too. It is
initiated by bioinformaticians, and has at least 5 active developers. In just
two months it made the Jmol application plugins I wrote in the past obsolete.

Make sure to check out the screenshots!

Egon
