I can answer that. It's just that the old documentation suggested that
when you check out the HEAD module Jmol, then you change its name *on
your local machine* to be Jmol-HEAD. Essentially there is no consequence
of this whatsoever, except that the example commands in the developer
documentation used to refer to the local directory /Jmol-HEAD instead of
/Jmol.
In learning how to do this, I was a bit confused about what the HEAD
business was about, and it was suggested that local "Jmol-HEAD" idea was
used "just for historical reasons" and that we could dispense with it.
So I removed it from the developer documentation. This made the process
simpler, because one need only check out the module as "Jmol" not
"Jmol-HEAD".
The ONE place this does have an effect is that in the Jmol-web module
there is a reference in Jmol-web/build.xml to the local directory
containing the doc/ subdirectory, and that is referenced as Jmol-HEAD:
<property name="jmol-doc-dir" value="../Jmol-HEAD" />
Now, I don't know how many people actually have an interest in running
Jmol-web/build.xml. I needed to, because I needed to see what mistakes I
was making in the docbook xml version of the Jmol Developer's Guide.
That's the scoop.

I am just going to make the change from Jmol-HEAD -> Jmol

hi Miguel,
I don't use Eclipse to checkout and build Jmol. when you have a
chance, can you please describe how this change affects non-Eclipse
users?
thanks!
