I wasn't sure to what extent users should be updated when the change is only in the commit stage, not the release stage. But I think you mean, just passing the whole idea of such a change by users before actually committing?

actually, I was referring to discussions about: the kind of data that gets passed; the format of such data; how to access it. I'm certain that among the developers, we could come up with a decent scheme to replace callbacks - but in this case, I think more cooks don't spoil the brew. ;-)
