Egon, I got atom colors working in the applet. Recent changes you made to integrate with cdk caused some problems with the applet.
I think we need to rationalize the scheme for determining atom colors. There is too much old code which is conflicting with the cdk integration. Separately, I tried to get the applet to run on IE with a 1.1 jvm. By playing around I was able to get past the ClassNotFound error with cdk/AtomColorer. However, I then had problems loading other cdk classes. I still cannot compile cdk because I don't have java3d installed ... so I am trying to install the blackdown java3d implementation to allow me to get past that hurdle.
