Well, I *thought* I had discovered something.

After *much* investigation (before reading your email) I determined that
in jmol.xml we were not specifying
 target="1.1"

This statement eliminates the class loader problems.

However, there are *lots* of other problems. I have been trying to work my
way through them ... but I am about to give up for the nite.

Will try compiling with an older version of the jdk.

Also will take a look at the developer's guide ;^)
