Summary: atom expression syntax problems

Initial Comment:
The RasMol atom expression language has a few problems.
some new ones:

2.7.2 uses the ; character to distinguish between
alternate configurations. This conflicts with ; as a
statement separator

The * is a valid atom name character, and is important
for nucleotide chains. Of course, it is also a
wild-card character

The + is a valid residue name character. So, that means
that + should be accepted. This one might not be as
bad, because we can force it to be within [square brackets]

[square brackets] might help out on some of the other
things too.
