I don't think Peter is refering to the RSS work... JCP also has a system 
called DADML: database access definition markup language...

It uses XML files to download from databases, and is very well suited for 
downloading from databases like the PDB...

See CDK's cdk/internet package, and cdk.sf.net/super.xml and cdk.sf.net/
database.xml

It's in action for many years now, e.g. on www.woc.sci.kun.nl, and in 
JChemPaint...

Don't think it is illegal... it's not an official protocol... we just happen 
to use the same syntax... Debian uses that for translation too:

po://some-debian-package

which is just used as in unique ID, and points nowhere really physical...

This formalism is not found in DADML, but it should be easy to extend this...

maybe it could better be then:

dadml://pdb/1crn

where DADML is they wat things are resolved, and pdb the service...
