enjoy Espana :-) more info - this monitors bug only appears to affect 'cartoon' shapes. if I do this in 1CRN, the monitor works fine: select all backbone 0.7 select backbone and not oxygen wireframe 0.1 set monitor off set monitor 0.55 monitor 9 232 # these are two alpha carbons now if I turn off the wireframe, leaving the backbone, the monitor disappears: wireframe off same deal if I use cartoon instead of backbone. maybe turning off the 'real' shapes (atoms and bonds) also turns off the monitor lines? btw, this is reverse of RasMol - turning off everything still leaves monitors, hbonds, and ssbonds. these must be turned off explicitly. I will log this bug at the sf site.
