OK, I repeated my instructions below and got the same results. Thus, it would APPEAR that the applet is somehow broken. But it is not:

CONTEXT:

 http://www.stolaf.edu/people/hansonr/jmol/docs/examples/animation.htm

Load the cyclohexane model and try running the script with "fps 10" in it.
Let it go all the way through. It should go 35 frames.
Do this 10 or 20 times.

PROBLEM: After some number of events, the counter runs -- the textarea updates -- but the animation gets ragged and finally fails altogether.

SOLUTION: Clear the textarea.

COMMENT: The applet is running just fine. What is complicating the issue is that the callbacks are being monitored in a textarea. This list gets pretty long, and at some point the updating of the textarea is slow enough that it messes up the frame updates.

Category: Applet
Group: None

Status: Closed
Resolution: Works For Me

Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Miguel (migueljmol) Summary: animation severly broken

Initial Comment:
version 10pre9c and 10pre11:

after animation runs a few times, applet is broken

see
http://www.stolaf.edu/people/hansonr/jmol/docs/examples/animation.htm

try running the script with "fps 10" in it. Let it go all the way through. It should go 35 frames.

Do this 10 times.

I couldn't get past about 6 or 7. Usually on the 7th
try I see the counter (callback) going but there isn't
any action. Once I say the applet go grey, and that was
the end of it. Several times this happened in the
course of trying various scripts on the page, not just
doing this one several times over. Sometimes I say the
animation jerk before meeting its death.
