Since this has some java programmers on-board, maybe someone could help me with a small problem I have:
Symbolic fonts in a Java program I have appear as boxes in my UI. I would like to be able to use the font "symbol", or "wingdings", but these always appear as small squares in my font selection dialog, and when I use them to paint on a canvas. All other conventional text fonts work fine. I have tried messing around with a font.properties file in the java runtime environment, but don't fully understand where and what to put in the file.
