With Egon's help, I tried out Jmol v9's handling of cif and drawing multiple cells. Jmol v9 had an comprehensive menu devoted to unit cells and lattices that allowed the user to determine the range of unit cells in each of three directions separately for each of unit cell boundaries, atoms, and bonds.
