No extensive *security framework* ... just jar signing.

No documentation.

.jar signing is handled as part of build.xml

If you do a full 'distribution' build then Signed applets will be generated

  ant dist

In addition, the Jmol application Jmol.jar is now signed by default ... to
facility WebStart installations.

Not sure exactly what you mean.

Regardless, as you suggest we should get rid of it and handle .jar signing
within the context of Jmol.
