HI all, ever since updating the service pack on my laptop I have found that whenever I go to a class to do a demo using Jmol or Chime or anything that uses an ActiveX or Java applet I get a prompt asking if I want to allow the page to load properly (this is with IE).
This is very annoying and so I have been looking for ways to get around it. The allow pop-up feature setting in IE does not affect the response, no help. Google came up with <!-- saved from url=(0014)about:internet --> placed just below the doctype in the HTML header. This worked for some things but not others and I found pages with JSpecView and Jmol would load the first applet and not Jmol, no good. I have eventually resorted to attacking the Registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN changing the setting from 1 to 0 seems to work. I am not sure what security issues I have now exposed my laptop to but rather than lose valuable time in classes I am prepared to trust what is on my Hard Drive.. Anyone found a better way to overcome this annoyance? Thanks Robert ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
