Nico, please compare the two:

set perspectiveDepth ON
set perspectiveDepth OFF

Also, can you provide a reproducible script sequence so others can test this on different platforms?

I have also announced this new extension on the Folding At Home
community forums.
And I have an interesting report :
- spinning with the current version of Jmol (10.2.0) is much more CPU
intensive than with a previous version (10.00.11) that was already
used in the wiki.

Check post here :

I verified the report on my own computer and "spin on" takes about 3
times more CPU than before.

This is something *important* to investigate.
Any idea ?

I would guess that it is connected to the changes made to get rid of the
distortions at high zoom levels.
I noticed that these changes had a quite high impact on rotation
performance of larger molecules. With small molecules Jmol 10.2.0 is
still fast enough that you don't notice the difference clearly. So I
would guess that with smaller molecules the CPU is able to compensate
this because it wasn't at its limit before, but with larger molecules
the CPU cannot compensate this completely.

Rolf
