In general, I think that patches should only be applied if.

1. and end-user complains about them

This is the sole criteria I'm suggesting. But if a user complains and we fix it (like these) then whatever else we've fixed along the way should also go in with that patch, right? Any bug fixes to date. That's all I'm asking.

Understand, though, I'm a user..... :)
