OK,

TEST 5: Linux box; CS guru in hand. Firefox 1.0

a) http://fusion.stolaf.edu/chemistry/jmol/xtalx/test2.htm

b) http://fusion.stolaf.edu/chemistry/jmol/xtalx/

RESULT:

a) no crashes, nada. Just fine.

b) consistent crash at maximum memory usage (50 Mb allowed).

Is this just a memory allocation issue -- these Macs and Linux machines are not set up allow the necessary memory?

Is this a memory problem in Jmol? Not handling memory correctly.

TEST 6: turn off all status caching.

no errors anywhere, but I have to force quit the browser.

Tim, what's the secret to doing that force quit on a Mac?

Bob

cmd-opt-escape

or look under the Apple menu
