Jmol developers:

API: In Jmol 11.0 prerelease a lot of application interface methods of
JmolViewer were removed; I've put them all back in now.

NAVIGATION MODE: Charles Xie and I are working on a "navigation mode"
for Jmol that would allow users to "fly" through a model. If you are
interested in working with us on this, now is the time.

In 11.1.1 you can

set navigationMode
slab on; #recommended;

and then use the arrow keys on the keyboard to navigate into and through
a model. Still some issues, for sure, but I'm happy to say that as of
today we've got the basics down.

Arrow key assignments (very preliminary):

up/down forward/reverse
left/right turn left/right
shift up/down/left/right move navigation point
alt up/down pitch up/down
alt left/right reserved
ctrl reserved

still LOTS of issues with passing through the rotation point, turning
180 degrees, correcting the trajectory, etc.; no script/state support of
navigation mode yet; this is just an initial attempt to see if it can
work. I have no idea if it is compatible with any sort of simultaneous
spinning or animation.

I've been working with the application; I think there may be keypad
issues with the applet.
