Since I also have 1.6.5, I have no clue on why doing the test stopped working for me and not for you. I wonder how it worked for you without having the test.dir directory, though, as that was not in the build.xml. Ant has its mysterious ways, it seems.
I will upload the patch to the tracker and mention the way to do this on the wiki. As for more patches from my side: I hope I will be able to get the povray output also incorporate the additional objects drawn in jmol, a function that is greatly missed at the moment (best way to create publication-quality output). As Bob Hanson pointed out, this should be possible as the way objects are constructed in jmol and povray are very similar, but the part with the isosurfaces might be a bit troublesome still. I will start with the easy things (lines and such).
