I would appreciate it if anyone could look into this more:

Q: Is it possible that the new Java rule really is "no popup menus for 
unsigned applets"?

Q: What is the best alternative?

Q: Do other applets use popup menus? If so, how are those developers 
responding to this challenge?

This isn't going to be solved soon, so there's no rush, but I think we 
need to have a serious discussion about this in the coming weeks.
