Would it be possible to name an echo so it could be turned on or off similar to 
many other Jmol features, i.e.

echo myecho "Hi there";
echo myecho off;
echo myecho on;

though documented, was never implemented, and

  set echo myecho off

actually DELETES an echo. So.... 

Jmol 11.6.RC7 introduces

  set echo myecho HIDDEN
  set echo myecho DISPLAY
