I am not familiar with jdvi either. However, I think I understand the problem.
Since there is no javascript support, there is no way to start the animation. Jeff, I am working on putting in a right-click PopupMenu in the applet. This would give access to a lot of functionality. I plan to add "animation commands" to that menu. Is this sufficient for your purposes? Or, do you need to have buttons (for your end users)? Miguel > Interesting question.
