Q: All the time?


Yes. Regardless of the picking mode (ident, distance, torsion, select, monitor, etc.) a click on an atom always calls pickCallback.

No, see above. It is always on, just the mode changes.


Q: Only the left mouse button?


Yes.


Q: What happens on double-click?


Up to you.
