The first time that you access the page the applet must be downloaded from the server. Later, the applet must only be downloaded if the file has changed on the server. >>> IT works nearly fine with Explorer and Mozillas, but not with Safari. >> >> The problem is that with Explorer & Mozilla on Mac OSX you cannot use >> JavaScript to send scripts to the JmolApplet. > > I do not understand. But this is not a good general solution for most people. JavaScript is usually better for most people. >>> I also have tried with Netscape 4.8 in MacOS 9.2 (in a iMac G3 500) >>> but >>> it takes even more time to load. >> >> Do you mean to load the html page with the applet or to load a >> molecule? > > The page is loaded a little slower, but the applet takes much more time > to load itself, and also takes lots of time in downloading a molecule The java interpreter under Netscape 4.* on OS 9 is very poor and very slow. > Moreover, with netscape 4.8 and OS 9 there are things in jmol that do > not work. Yes, because the Netscape 4.* Java interpreter is very slow. >> What I should have asked was the size of the Jmol window. > > Since I am using jmol from your web pages, it is the size you decide. OK.
