No doubt there are very few :-)

Yes, this is clearly a Java compiler bug. The assertion is failing within
their compiler.

I encourage you to file a bug report with HP.

Hmmm ... interesting that v9 runs OK.


The machines that are less main-stream seem to have more problems with
their JVMs. I am aware of some JVM problems with Java 1.4.? on SGI Octane
systems.
