There is only one small problem with this 'solution'.

Be advised that I am in the process of changing the JmolAppletControl
structure slightly. That is, I am removing the JmolAppletControl code from
the base JmolApplet.jar and putting it in a separate .jar file. The
motivation for this is to (slightly) reduce the size of the JmolApplet.jar
file.

(I would like to eliminate the JmolAppletControl code completely ... in a
year or so).
