Adding additional UI functionality for supporting animation is on the list-of-things-to-do.
However, be advised that UI enhancements to the application are relatively
low on my priority list.
If anyone else wants to contribute in this area ....
After measuring, playing animations (from geometry optimizations or MD) is the second-most important thing in my daily work with Jmol. I use the Jmol application exclusively (as opposed to the applet).
Having available in Jmol one of the easiest, most efficient, and most intuitive measuring tools, I was actually counting on getting the animation panel back in the final version of Jmol10.
I must admit that with the current implementation of animation controls, I routinely turn to a different program (usually VMD) for looking at movies as soon as I need more control than just a quick sweep-through.
Finally combining my desires for measuring and animations, it would be very nice if a measurement done in one frame would apply to all frames (I think I mentioned that before ;-).
Cheers
Hans
