Being unable to do this in a sophisticated, delicate way, I got out the sledge hammer.

Hi Phil,
I am on a dial-up connection at home, so I gave your altered page a trial run. On my Mac G4, running OS 10.3.5 with the updated Java fix, initially the page stopped with one applet having a blank, white background, and the other still at the "large coffee cup stage". The radio buttons for answers were functional but "new problem" did not change anything. Reloading the page sent Safari into color-wheel mode and I forced a quit after a few minutes.
On quitting Safari and visiting the page anew, it loaded just fine, with both applets showing their structures, and the new problem button working.
