I wrote a sample page for testing ... and MessageCallback and PickCallback work just fine for me on Safari 1.2.1 (v125.1) with Java 1.4.2_03

That's interesting that it works for you. I'm running Safari 1.2.3 (v125.9) and Java 1.4.2_05 - the latest for both.
I've only recently been trying to implement MessageCallback and PickCallback, so I don't have first hand experience with older versions. With your setup, can you point yourself to the following and see if you get messages showing up in the bottom box?

By "not work," I can tell you that the callback routines don't even get called. If I include an "alert("hi")" statement in the routine, I don't see it. I was hoping briefly that it was the type conversion issue raised recently, but no, the function doesn't even get called. Again, on Windows, the exact same code works fine (with or without the alert) - so it's not as simple as my not doing it correctly. Might it be a case-sensitivity issue? I currently use "MessageCallback" but last night also tried "MessageCallBack" and that didn't work. Might this matter on some platforms and not on others?
