Summary ------- I apologize for the Unsolicited Commercial E-mail ...
I am soliciting work as a consultant to work on projects that are Jmol or chemistry related. Detail ------ I have been working on Jmol essentially full time, without compensation, for the past two years. I have been able to devote so much time to a free/open source project because I was living in Spain with my wife and children on an extended 'sabbatical'. In August I relocated to the US. Our cost structure has changed significantly, our 'sabbatical' is over, and I need to start thinking about generating some income :-) I have been having fun with Jmol, I have learned a little chemistry, and I would like to be able to keep working on it ... there is still a lot of work to do. Therefore, if any of you are working on Jmol/chemistry-related projects (in industry or in academia) where you have funds available for consulting services, please contact me off-list. Some of you may be applying for government funding or grants. If it is appropriate for your project, you may want to consider adding a Jmol component to your proposal. I not employed and am not affiliated with any academic institution. I have a great deal of professional/commercial software development experience as an architect, project lead, and senior executive. I am willing to travel any place in the world. I have found that as an individual it effectively be impossible for me to receive funding from any US government organizations. And, since I am not a 'qualified non-profit organization', I am not eligable to receive funding from most private foundations either. If any of you have other ideas/suggestions on how I can generate some income in this Jmol/open source/education/academia/research world I would appreciate hearing from you.
