Does the Mac provide a java console? I'd be surprised if there wasn't a message there to the effect of "applet not found"

the page contains everything else and the place were the applet should be is empty, not just the black square...
The applet works fine in Netscape on my mac (10.3.5 -- latest java update, and java embedding plugin to get live connect working.)
It used to do so in my setup as well, but then something happened......
BTW: a new version of the plugin was released yesterday; have downloaded but not installed.
