I have put an example online:
http://www.umass.edu/molvis/freichsman/jmol/ep01_01_01.html
(Please note that there is no response if you answer the question posed on the page, this is not implemented yet.)
At the bottom of the page, there are six buttons, two for hydrogen atoms (show/hide) and four Show Orientation (SO) buttons in a row. The code for the first and the fourth SO button is identical. (These SO buttons are purely for my own use in writing scripts for the applets.)
Clicking any button first reports nothing to Console.app on Mac OS X using Safari 1.2.4 with debugging turned on, and there is no effect of the button. Then the other buttons work fine, with reports showing up in Console log, for example clicking the fourth SO button gives:
jmolApplet0 will try to run: -----show orientation -----
show:moveTo 1 0 0 0 0 OR reset;
I cannot figure out why the first click of any button does not work, and in fact inactivates the button until the page is reloaded. Do I need to use jmolSetTarget? If so, can someone coach me a little as to how to do that?
On a related topic, I found some information on debugging JavaScript in Safari at the following web page:
http://mac.byu.edu/article.php?story=20041011093658833
I have been using the method described there to turn on debugging. I am not sure if the command to Terminal turns on a greater degree of debugging, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone is interested.
