Yes and no.

I do not want support for them in the base JmolApplet.jar file.

However, if there is sufficient demand then I will be willing to supply a
separate JmolAppletControl.jar file that will allow people with existing
sites to continue to to use these controls.

There is a cost to maintaining old code.

A year ago it was appropriate to use, because it was the only thing that
would work on OS X.

I don't want to maintain this code into the future, and I thought it was
best to eliminate it before the v10 relase.

Let me know if you want me to include a separate JmolAppletControl.jar
file in the next release.
